Using our new maps function at fairfootballalliance.org/map, Fair Football Alliance is able to identify all geographical Milestone Club candidates. This can only happen once all clubs have been mapped to their most frequently used home venue. For Lithuania, that process is now complete.
The Process
Identifying Milestone Club candidates is a detailed and sometimes time-intensive exercise. In geographical categories, a maximum of two clubs may share a venue and still qualify for a milestone certificate — without this rule, a single shared ground could produce ten simultaneous "northernmost" clubs. The most remote category is particularly demanding, as it requires measuring the distance from every club to its nearest neighbour across the entire pyramid.
Clear Lithuanian Cases
The most straightforward case is FC Interas Visaginas, which is clearly the easternmost men's club in the Lithuanian pyramid. Also clear-cut are the easternmost, westernmost and northernmost women's clubs — FK Utenos Utenis, Klaipėdos FM and FK Saned respectively. The women's southernmost category is a closer call, with FK Sūduva competing with several clubs from southern Vilnius. The northernmost men's club is also a tight race: FK Cementininkas ultimately wins, but FK Atmosfera is close. Finally, the highest-altitude women's team is MFA Bitės VFG, who play at 181 metres above sea level at the Vilniaus Fabijoniškių gimnazijos stadionas.
FK Ketera and FK Širvėna
The southernmost men's case is more complex. FK Ketera from Šalčininkai is the likely candidate, but uncertainty remains. The club has played only five away games and has just one home fixture scheduled at the southernmost venue — Šalčininkų 1000-mečio gimnazijos stadionas — raising questions about why some clubs have more home or away matches than others. A thorough review of the competition regulations is needed to answer this. There is also the question of whether FK Ketera sits within a genuine pyramid path: the club plays at the fourth level of Lithuanian football (III Lyga, VRFS region), and the regulations must confirm that promotion from the III Lyga VRFS to the II Lyga is possible before any certification can proceed.
The most remote men's club is likely FK Širvėna from Biržai, whose nearest clubs are approximately an hour's drive away. However, exact distance measurements have yet to be completed. The same applies to the women's most remote category, where no call will be made without precise measurement.
Venues With Too Many Clubs
Two potential milestone venues are disqualified due to the number of clubs that use them. The highest-altitude venue in Lithuania — the Dilgynė ground in the Vilnius area, at 207 metres above sea level — has too many clubs competing there to qualify for a milestone certificate. The same applies to the westernmost men's venue in Klaipėda, the Klaipėdos Centrinio Stadionas.
Certification Procedure
All certification begins with a preliminary investigation such as this one. Clubs identified as clear candidates will be added to the certification radar in our Forces for Good register at fairfootballalliance.org/forces-for-good. Where a clear logo is available, the club will also be featured on our Instagram at instagram.com/fairfootballalliance. Uncertain cases will only be added to the radar once additional information has been received — whether more precise measurements or the relevant competition documents. Once a club is on the certification radar, formal consideration for an official certificate only begins when direct contact has been established between the club and Fair Football Alliance. A committee will then review all the facts independently. Once all information has been verified, the physical certificate will either be sent to the club or awarded in person. To join the certification committee, individual membership is required, which can be activated at fairfootballalliance.org/membership.
